Where is The Wildbirch Hotel?
The Wildbirch Hotel is located in Anchorage, your basecamp for adventure in Southcentral Alaska. It’s just a few miles from the University of Alaska Anchorage and within walking distance of the Alaska Railroad Depot and the Anchorage Museum.
The hotel offers rugged refinement, spectacular views, and quick access to the airport, as well as the Glenn and Seward Highways for easy statewide travel.
What is the Summit Reception?
SBDC Summit attendees are invited to the Summit Reception on Saturday, March 7, at Serrano’s Mexican Grill in downtown Anchorage (525 W 4th Avenue) from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Close out the Summit with a unique networking event, timed to celebrate Fur Rondy and the ceremonial start of the 54th Iditarod! Warm up, enjoy a taco bar, and connect with fellow attendees, speakers, and industry leaders in a laid-back atmosphere, complete with a live stream of the start!
What should I know about Fur Rondy?
Fur Rendezvous, or “Rondy,” is a winter festival with a significant place in Anchorage’s history. Established in the mid-1930s by Vern Johnson and friends to coincide with the town’s mining and trapping season, the festival began as a three-day sports tournament featuring skiing, hockey, and a children’s sled dog race. Can I attend the Iditarod Ceremonial Start?
Yes! The Ceremonial Start is on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. in Downtown Anchorage at the corner of 4th and D Street. Summit attendees are invited to our Summit Reception to warm up and celebrate at Serranos Mexican Grill!
The Iditarod is an annual sled dog race covering 1,000+ miles of challenging terrain. It is named after the Iditarod Trail, a historic dogsled route used during the 1925 vaccine run to Nome. Learn more here!
What can I expect for parking?
The hotel provides self-parking for guests with access on 3rd Avenue off A Street. Downtown garages and street parking are also nearby for additional options.
Electric vehicle charging is available at two stations.
What type of weather can I expect in Anchorage?
