Summit Reception – March 1

What should I know about Fur Rondy?
Fur Rendezvous, or “Rondy,” is a winter festival with a significant place in Anchorage’s history. Established in the mid-1930s by Vern Johnson and friends to coincide with the town’s mining and trapping season, the festival began as a three-day sports tournament featuring skiing, hockey, and a children’s sled dog race. Can I attend the Iditarod Ceremonial Start?
Yes! The Ceremonial Start is on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. in Downtown Anchorage at the corner of 4th and D Street. Summit attendees are invited to our Summit Reception to warm up and celebrate! The Iditarod is an annual sled dog race covering 1,000+ miles of challenging terrain. It is named after the Iditarod Trail, a historic dogsled route used during the 1925 vaccine run to Nome. Learn more here!

What can I expect for parking?
EasyPark Alaska: Parking meters must be paid Monday-Friday, 9 am – 6 pm. Rates: 2-hour meter $1.75 per hour; 10-hour meter $1.25 per hour; Handicap – different rates apply. If you want a receipt for a transaction at a street meter, click here.
